Investment, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has taken issue with Coast leadership saying they are used to continued lamentations about the privatisation of the multi-million Kenya ports Authority KPA .
Kuria castigated the leaders he said have perfected the art of complaining about being sidelined on matters of development.
He said the leaders instead of seeking dialogue with the national government to iron out issues and create solutions are professionals in complaining.
Moses who did not specifyΒ the government position over the port privatisation hullabaloo noted that his ministry will continue to source for financially loaded investors to spur development in the port of Mombasa,Lamu and other parts of the coastal region.
“Leaders need to learn how to look for solutions instead of complaining. The government has no plan to hurt the economy of the Coast,instead it’s investing billions in the region and some people are not seeing that, ” he added.
In his remarks Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nasir demanded that Mombasa get a fair share of the port revenue just like other counties are benefiting from revenues from National reserves and parks.
According to Nassir who feels duped, blames the Ruto administration for betrayal especially after returning port services to Mombasa.
Jomvu Mp Badi Twalib said the government should come clean on the port matter that was undertaken without their consultation.He said though they are not opposed to development the government should stop under carpet deals.
They were speaking in the Miritini area after groundbreaking the construction of 500 million industrial parks funded by county and central government government.
