Rabai sub county is set to benefit from a Sh 50 million sports academy as plans to roll out other 37 academies across the ccountry continues.

Cabinet secretary for youth, creative economy and sports, Salim Mvurya directed the construction of the facility to help in the identification, development and empowering of youth from the area.

According to the CS, the government of Kenya is determined to provide conducive environment for talent development across the country.

“ A team of officials from the Kenya Academy of Sports will tour Rabai to access the land which will be used for construction of the sports academy. Already we are in the tendering process of constructing 37 new sports academies at a cost on 1.2 billion. And soon contractors will be on site.” Said Mvurya.

Mvurya called on Kenyan to be patient as the Kenya kwanza government is gradually implementing development projects across the country.

The CS stressed that good working relationship between community and elected leaders from both arms of the government will secure projects implementation processes.

Mvurya urged Rabai residents to take advantage of improved school infrastructures to educate their children.

Addressing Rabai residents of Rabai during the official commissioning of an administration block and 3 classroom block of Kanyumbuni Primary School, he assured government commitment in addressing education matters.

“I trust it’s through cooperation between all the stakeholders in education that will see such development projects. we had challenges with the new curriculum CBC but this has been addressed and the government if now focusing on employing teachers, 20,000 more teachers will be employed.” Revealed Mvurya.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Rabai member of National Assembly, Antony Kenga, who called on more efforts from the national government to empower youth in the area.

Kenga urged CS Mvurya to work towards ensuring that youth from Rabai, benefit fully from National Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project.

“ We call upon you to ensure our youth gain the opportunities from this project through the funding of word bank and the Kenya government. As other Kenyans Rabai youth should benefit with this program to despite efforts to improve their talents.” Noted Kenga.
